This is our sixth day here in Morocco which began in Marrakech after flying from New York to London, then arriving also by air from Casablanca.
Lisa Delsante and I have been meeting with individuals in the capital city of Rabat who represent different NGOs (the High Atlas Foundation, Cross-Cultural Solutions), as well as a US Embassy official, and two representatives from the Moroccan Peace Corps to gather information, gain a better perspective on Amazigh culture, and refine our strategies for raising funds for the nomadic people in the Chegaga region of the Sahara Desert.
Tomorrow, with our colleagues, Victoria Gunnarsson (D.C), Liz Williams (Bristol), and Abdoullah Bassou (Morocco), we drive through the High Atlas Mountains to head toward the villages of Ouarzazate and Zagora before reaching the desert to meet with nomad families.
We’ve launched a website for our organization.
